Phone: 804-443-3357 Fax: 804-443-6781 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Tappahannock (March 10, 2010) St. Margaret’s Spring Minimester is well established as a traditional time for students to venture forth far and wide around the world. A group of 27 students, faculty, alumnae and parents ventured to Egypt, spending 5 days in Upper Egypt on the River Nile visiting the Valley of the Kings and Queens, Karnak temple, Thebes, Luxor, and a Nubian school in Aswan. The second half of the journey took them to Cairo in Lower Egypt, the Pyramids and the famous collection from the Tutankamun tomb exhibited at the Egyptian Museum. Their adventure can be followed at www.smsinegypt.blogspot.com At the same time a group of students and faculty rented RV’s and toured the US South West visiting cultural and native American sites and scenic spots in Arizona along with service projects in the Navaho community. Another student Becca McKinley traveled to Kenya and worked in a mission helping teachers and nurses. A volunteer student group headed to Charleston SC and worked with the United Methodist Relief Center and Habitat for Humanity, and a group of juniors took the Next Steps: The College Process which spent several days visiting and comparing public and private colleges and universities throughout Virginia. Many senior students also took advantage of Spring Break to pursue their Independent Study Programs in far away locations in China, Korea and Japan.
