FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tappahannock (February 10, 2009)
St. Margaret’s senior class recently donated handmade blankets to The Haven Shelter & Services.
Senior Class President Flo Snyder and Holly Wever-Christian of Walkerton presented the blankets to Sandra Longest, community relations coordinator for the The Haven. Wever-Christian spent most of her Christmas break making more than a dozen comfy and decorative blankets to sell at St. Margaret’s senior bazaar. The senior class decided to donate the unsold blankets to The Haven.
“When clients are using our services, they feel isolated and alone,” Longest said. “When their immediate world seems cold and unloving, wrapping up in a soft, warm blanket can provide at least some sense of warmth and protection.”
St. Margaret’s School is dedicated to serving the community. The Haven provides services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking in the rural areas of the Northern Neck and Essex County.
