Three graduates of the St. Margaret’s School Class of 2008 have earned the designation of AP Scholar by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program (AP) exams.
Katherine Burnett of Burlington, N.C, was named an AP Scholar with Distinction for receiving a grade 3 or higher on five or more exams. Martha Reynolds of Wake Forest, N.C., was named a Scholar with Honor for receiving a grade 3 or higher on four or more exams. Michka Sharpe of Kingston, Jamaica, was recognized as an AP Scholar for achieving a grade 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.
After graduating from St. Margaret’s, the three students went on to pursue rigorous studies at some of the country’s most competitive colleges. Burnett is now a first-year student at Washington and Lee University, Reynolds at the Savannah College of Art and Design, and Sharpe at the Oxford College of Emory University.
St. Margaret’s offers AP courses in all core subject areas providing strong students with the opportunity to broaden their intellectual horizons, demonstrate their commitment to academic excellence, and gain an edge in college preparation by undertaking rigorous high school work. Students who do well on AP exams can also earn credit or advanced standing at most American colleges and universities.
