Mrs. Taliaferro had quite an impressive teaching resume before coming to St. Margaret's School. She taught high school English and French for 17 years. Since coming to SMS, she has taught three different courses in the English Department and two in the ESL Department. Mrs. Taliaferro also coordinated the Speakers Bureau, a program that brought public speakers and performers to campus. Past performers range from theatre groups and dance groups to speakers on environmental issues, cultural educators, and writers and storytellers. In November 2008 she prepared a similar program on women in careers. As proud sponsor of the Class or 2009 for four out of their five years at SMS, she had a front-row seat to witness their growth in grace.

Among her honors are nomination to Who’s Who Among American High School Teachers and selection for the 2009 John T. Rice Excellence in Teaching Award. She is a member of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages.

She lives with her husband, David, and their Black Lab, Casey, on the shores of the Rappahannock River. She and David have two grown sons, two daughters-in-law, and six grandchildren on whom they dote.
