Boarding Students

Boarding students have a head start on college life, because they know how to handle laundry, roommates and study time. By attending SMS as a boarder, you will gain independence and make lifelong friends. You’ll get to know your teachers and their families outside the classroom, too.

Other highlights of boarding student life include:

- Straight talk about issues that are on your mind—like healthy relationships, nutrition and fitness, and positive ways to reduce stress—through our nationally recognized life skills co-curriculum

- A full schedule of exciting weekend activities

- A variety of good food with a beautiful view in our riverfront dining hall

- Three different sizes and styles of dorms, with rooms you can decorate to suit your taste

- A share of the responsibility for your living environment through your dorm community, and a share in dorm leadership through the prefect and desk aide programs

- Dorm parents and other adults in residence who listen, care and even make cookies!

We encourage all prospective boarding students to attend one of our overnight visits so they can get a first-hand look at campus life.
