The St. Margaret’s School College Counseling Office helps and their families prepare for the college application process. Because we know each student and her personal preferences, we can effectively help each one find colleges that are the right fit for them. St. Margaret's School students are accepted into some of the country's most selective colleges and universities, but more importantly, schools in which they will continue to grow and find success.
To assist students and parents SMS provides a Virtual College Office. This college information portal provides college handbooks, timetables, and research resources and guides students in using the Internet and other tools to gain information about colleges, scholarships, and admission testing. Juniors, senior and their parents each have a unique password to access this resource. You can obtain your password from the SMS College Office using this link, or enter as a guest.
At St. Margaret’s, we recognize that applying to college can be a daunting task so early planning and preparation are beneficial to make it more manageable. Director of College Guidance Sheri Gross has developed a college planning overview that maps out what should be done regarding applying to college for each year of high school. By starting early, we help lay the groundwork for each of our students so that by the time she is a senior, she will have a clear focus for her college applications. Students can use the College Planning and Preparation Checklist to monitor their progress towards their college success.
Every spring, St. Margaret's organizes a college tour as part of the Minimester Program. Read more about the Next Steps Program and contact Mrs. Gross to enroll.
